We have some gorgeous captive bred red-footed tortoises. Red-footed tortoises are such that; Tortoises with red feet. Well, they sorta have red feet. They have gorgeous, red markings on their front and back legs. The red-footed tortoise (Chelonoidis carbonarius) is a species of tortoise from northern South America. These medium-sized tortoises generally average 30 cm (12 in) as adults, but can reach over 40 cm (16 in). They have loaf-shaped (football) shells with dark limbs that have bright colored scales that range from pale yellow to dark red. They are popularly kept as pets, and over-collection has caused them to be vulnerable to extinction, so please purchase captive bred tortoises instead of store bought, as most store bought are wild caught. They make great companions, whom have very likable personalities. They do best in closed chambers, where it is high heat and high humidity. They thrive outside in the southern states where humidity and heat is high.

Our daughter (7yrs old) has ALWAYS wanted a turtle. After much fundraising, research, several visits to pet stores and finally emailing several breeders, we chose Tortstork and a REDFOOT Tortoise (they remind us of chickens & she plans on passing it down her family line)!! When placing our order it was on a Friday. We got notified on the following Monday. The shipment went out that evening. We were expecting it to come in by FedEx on Tuesday however, the package was delayed. I emailed Randal about our concern for the tortoise, he sent us the tracking info right away and reassured us the baby would he just fine.
On Wednesday at 4PM (after my daughter got out of school) FedEx dropped of our package and my daughter was able to received her baby.
I did request a female so our hatchling was a tad bit bigger than expected but again after doing some research, we understand that gender is not always known as a new born. So our tortoise is about 3months old and she’s around 2.5inches, she’s perfect!! My daughter is elated and looking forward to growing with her tortoise.
